Rain did not stop play
The first two days were heavily influenced by Hurricane Patricia, resulting in minimal activity. The event was planned as an outdoor gathering, leaving attendees with little to no shelter available. Underfoot conditions were a mess, forcing us to discard our shoes. The sun finally emerged during the race and Elton John performances, both of which were fantastic. Unfortunately, there was a parking scam that left us feeling cheated. We paid $150 for lot N for a 3-day period, only to find it closed due to weather conditions. We were informed through Twitter to take advantage of the free downtown shuttle service on the race day. Desperate for parking, we discovered that Lot F was offering spaces for $100 in cash, which we paid. However, we believe that individuals holding a 3-day parking pass for lot N that went unused should have been granted this opportunity at no cost!

Sir Elton John, thank you VBC for booking. About 2 minutes into the opening number, which was exactly how I would have chosen for the performance to begin, I was actually moved. I had never seen John Browns Body in 1980 and my husband had, but we were both blown away by this concert. From start to finish (some 2 and 3/4 hours later - no intermission), this concert was a truly breathtaking event. We expected a rather subdued performance of ballads and love songs but... nope! It was a very moving, strong, well-thought out, emotion-filled evening with one of the greatest entertainers to ever walk onto a stage. It was a completely awe-inspiring experience in every sense of the word.
